Cllr Lee Carter, Cabinet
Member for Finance, Partnerships and Commercial Services at Telford &
Wrekin Council, will speak on “The Challenges Facing Local
Authorities” at a meeting hosted by The Newport Society.

“This is a period when all
local authorities are experiencing severe pressures on their budgets at the
same time as growing demands on services. We are looking forward to listening
to Cllr Lee Carter and how he sees Telford & Wrekin Council’s response to
such challenges now and in the future, with particular reference to how
Newport and district fits into the picture” – commented Martin Elkes, President of the Newport Society.

There will be a Q & A session after Cllr Carter’s talk.

The event takes place on Tuesday June 28 at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Church Aston TF 10 9 JG.

Everyone is welcome to attend. A small charge is made to cover hall costs & refreshments; £1 members, £2 to non-members.
