Day 7 of the Inquiry

Main part of day spent listening to the Council’s retail consultant setting out the case as to why the Audley Avenue Morrisons wont be built if the Sainsbury’s superstore is approved, and in cross examination by the Co-op’s barrister explaining the lack of consistency by the Council in the decisions they have made between Mere Park 2010 which they opposed and Station Rd 2012. The Inspector asked what had changed over these 2 years on Newport High St to bring about this change of policy.

Tomorrow morning we are due to hear the Council’s planning consultant and the start of his cross examination by Indigo and the Co-op legal counsels. TOMORROW AFTERNOON, STARTING AT 2.00PM IS THE FIRST SESSION ALLOCATED BY THE INSPECTOR FOR INTERESTED PARTIES TO REGISTER AND SPEAK. IF YOU CAN, WILL YOU PLEASE COME AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THOSE LOCAL PEOPLE WHO ARE INTENDING TO SPEAK.

Mr Crean, the SNC’s QC, who was at the Inquiry today with our planning consultant, will be cross examining the Council’s planning consultant hopefully next Wednesday when our planning consultant will be also be putting forward our case.
